Summary[]
An unexpected event brings Watson into contact again with Elana March, the crime boss she brought to justice. Also, with Watson distracted, Holmes enlists Detective Bell to join him in a temporary partnership to solve a theft at a local zoo.

- The title is taken from Kipling's poem of the same name. The full line reads "The female of the species is more deadly than the male," and refers both to Elana March's killing of Andrew in Hemlock and Moriarty's killing of March in turn.
