Rupert Graves (born 30 June 1963) is an English film, television and theatre actor. He is married with five children.[2] He is known for his early roles in A Room with a View, Maurice, and V for Vendetta, as well as for his more recent role as Detective Inspector Greg Lestrade in the critically acclaimed television series Sherlock.

The above quote about Rupert's children and football skills has been turned into a meme by the Sherlock fandom. Due to the quote becoming famous, Rupert is said to be asked regularly about football and his children.[citation needed]

He starred in an episode of Doctor Who ("Dinosaurs in a Spaceship"), making him one of several people on Sherlock to have played a part in both shows.
