Martin John Christopher Freeman is the English actor who plays John Watson in Sherlock. In 2011, he won a BAFTA TV for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Sherlock.[1]

Freeman is probably best known for his roles as John in Love Actually, Tim Canterbury in the BBC's Golden Globe-winning comedy The Office, Arthur Dent in the film adaptation of Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and as Bilbo Baggins – the lead role in Peter Jackson's three-part adaptation of The Hobbit. In The Hobbit, he stars alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, who (although not appearing onscreen) lends his voice to the parts of both Smaug the Dragon and the Necromancer.
