H. Löwenstein is a Bohemian quack doctor who lived in Prague, infamous for his search for rejuvenation elixirs. Professor Presbury, smitten with a young woman, travelled to Prague to buy one of his elixirs to rejuvenate himself, and continued to receive supplies after returning to England, through Löwenstein's associate, Dorak.
