Personal life and career
Seagrove was born to British parents in Malaysia. After having attended St Hilary's School in Godalming, county Surrey, from the age of nine, she took acting classes and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
She's had a regular theatre career since the 1970s, and started to appear in television and film roles since the early 1980s.
Some of her other notable television roles include The Woman in White, The Brack Report, Diana, A Woman of Substance, I promessi sposi (an Italian adaptation of The Betrothed), Peak Practice, Judge John Deed, Identity and Endeavour.
Jenny Seagrove also appeared in another Sherlock Holmes adaptation during the early 1990s, Sherlock Holmes: Incident at Victoria Falls, starring Christopher Lee and Patrick Macnee as an elderly version of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, respectively. Unlike her role as Mary Morstan in the Granada series, she played the character of Lillie Langtry, based on the famous Victorian and Edwardian era actress of the same name.
