The Jardin des Tuileries, or Tuileries Gardens, is a public park located on the banks of the Seine in central Paris. Founded as a royal garden by Queen Catherine de' Medici in the 16th century, it became a public park after the French Revolution. The gardens are one of the most popular places in the city for Parisians to meet, relax, and promenade.

History[]

After successfully finishing his lecture circuit and killing Alfred Meinhard, Professor James Moriarty and his assistant, Colonel Sebastian Moran left from the Gare du Nord for Heilbronn, German Empire. However, Moriarty's detour to the Tuileries Gardens to feed the pigeons allowed Sherlock Holmes to deduce his destination, allowing him, Dr John Watson, and Madam Simza Heron to follow him to the Meinhard Munitions Factory.[1]

Trivia[]

  • The closest train station to the Tuileries is actually the Gare Saint-Lazare, not the Gare du Nord.
