Inspector Lestrade is an inspector at Scotland Yard who often consults Sherlock Holmes. Holmes has described him as 'the most inept inspector in the history of Scotland Yard'.[1] He was also a member of the Temple of the Four Orders.[2]

Lestrade is first seen when he leads a team of police in a raid of the Blackwood ritual murder scene but is ultimately too late as Holmes and Watson have already stopped the event.

Despite Holmes' tendency to insult him, Lestrade still associates with him even when Holmes is wanted for murder. The inspector arrested Holmes and delivered him to Lord Coward but in reality this is part of Holmes plan to gather information from Coward, with Lestrade having slipped him the key to the handcuffs.

He appears again briefly in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, to oversee the confiscation of Professor Moriarty's assets along with Mrs Watson. He is also in attendance at Holmes' funeral.
