Eric Porter was a British actor who portrayed professor James Moriarty in the Granada Television series of Sherlock Holmes. His version of Moriarty appeared in the final two episodes of the second series, in 1985.
Personal life and career Edit
A native of London, Eric Porter was initially active mainly in theatre, becoming a highly-respected Shakespearean actor. His early television roles began in earnet already in the 1950s and 1960s, with the latter part of the 60s forming a breakthrough in his career as a television actor.
Some of Porter's notable television roles include The Forsyte Saga, The Canal Children, episodes of BBC Sunday-Night Theatre and BBC Play of the Month, Anna Karenina (1970s miniseries), Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years, The Jewel in the Crown and Oliver Twist (1980s miniseries).
