Edison is the gardener of the rehab center, Hemdale, where Sherlock Holmes stayed. He and Sherlock bonded over a mutual hobby of beekeeping.
When visiting the rehab center, Joan Watson notices Edison tending a bee's nest. She approaches him and they talk about Sherlock. Edison states that Sherlock told him that "he was the only person in this place without an agenda", which Edison figured was his way of saying he liked him. Watson inquires about Irene and Edison gives her a pile of letters Irene sent to Sherlock.
